Diagnostic Methods in Heart Diseases

Effort Test (Stress Test)

Effort test can be applied in two ways
a. Effort ECG test:
The effort test is a test, where the patient, who is suspected to have coronary vessel stenosis, is walking on fast pace on the treadmill and electrocardiography is taken.
b. Stress Echocardiography:
In some special cases, ultrasonographic examination (EKO) of heart is performed immediately before and after the effort test, so that the accuracy of the diagnosis of heart disease is further increased compared to the normal effort test.
You have to be fasting for four hours before the effort test. The patients should bring sports shoes and sweat pants, if possible.

Echocardiography and Color Doppler

The technique which transforms sound waves to live images of the structure of the human heart, the diameters of the cavities, the working capacity of the heart muscle, and especially the structure and functions of the heart valves is called echocardiography (ECO). No preliminary preparation or fasting is required for this test and the entire test can be completed shortly.

Holter Monitor (Cardiac Rhythm or Blood Pressure Holter)

The cardiac rhythm is monitored 24 hours a day and the recording is performed with the device called holter. With this device, cardiac rhythm irregularities can be detected.
Blood pressure holter records blood pressure of the patients for 24 hours, showing fluctuations in real life conditions and pressure values during the sleep.
