Liposuction

Liposuction is the removal of excess fat tissue from one or more body parts by surgical methods. This process is often used to reduce fat in areas that are not corrected by diet and exercise.

Liposuction can be applied to reduce fat tissue, especially in the abdomen, hips, waist, thighs, lower legs, arms, face, neck and back. This procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia and the duration of the procedure may vary depending on the size of the applied area and the amount of adipose tissue.

Liposuction can be done with various techniques. Among them:

Traditional Liposuction: It is the oldest liposuction method in which excess adipose tissue is removed through a vacuum tube.

Ultrasonic Liposuction: It is done by dissolving and then removing the fat cells with the help of sound waves.

Laser Liposuction: Fat tissue is melted with laser beams and then removed.

Water Jet Liposuction: Fat tissue is removed using water jet.

After the liposuction procedure, there may be swelling, bruising, pain and slight bleeding. These symptoms will subside in a few days. The healing process may vary depending on the person's age, health status, the treated area and the liposuction technique applied.

Although liposuction is an effective method to reduce excess adipose tissue, it should not be considered as a method for obesity or weight loss. Ideal candidates are those who do not achieve their goals even though they follow a healthy lifestyle to reduce the fat tissue in certain areas of their bodies.
