Biochemistry Laboratory

CLINICAL LABORATORIES
Today, as a result of rapidly developing technologies and new tests, the importance of laboratories in accurate diagnosis and effective treatment has increased. Our hospital's clinical laboratories consist of departments such as Biochemistry, Hematology, Endocrinology, Serology, Allergy, Microbiology, Parasitology, which work with the latest systems of technology. In our laboratories, with a staff of expert and experienced physicians, biologists and laboratory staff, 24-hour uninterrupted service, including weekends. is given.

Ambient conditions such as temperature, humidity and ventilation that may affect the analyzes are provided by computer control in the laboratories planned and built in international standards. Disposable materials are used in all processes against the risk of infection, and wastes are disposed of with a special organization for the protection of personnel and environmental health. Analysis samples reach our laboratories in the safest and fastest way with pneumatic tubes, and errors that may occur at all stages of sample collection and analysis are prevented with barcode labeling. Within the scope of quality assurance in our laboratories, daily internal quality controls are carried out for each test, followed regularly and analyzes are carried out after compliance. International quality control programs, of which we are a member, with the widest participation in the world; Our results are also independently audited with the BIO RAD External Quality Assesment System (EQAS) and DigitalPT AccuTest. After the analysis results are approved by experts after multi-stage controls, they are transferred directly to the patient's file, and new test results and all retrospective results can be seen together by the relevant doctor. Laboratory test results can be sent to our patients by e-mail or fax, and it is possible to access the results with the password given over the internet. The results are archived in the hospital information system and all results can be accessed when necessary.

Biochemistry Unit

Many routine and specific tests in the group of proteins, carbohydrates, enzymes and electrolytes from blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid and other body fluids are performed with special kits and autoanalyzers.

Hormone, Tumor Markers and Drug Levels Unit

In this unit, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal gland and fertility hormones, drug levels and vitamin analyzes as well as screening tests during pregnancy (double, triple and quadruple screening tests) are studied daily with fully automatic systems. In addition, this section measures tumor markers related to the gastrointestinal tract (liver, pancreas, stomach, colon), lung, prostate, breast, and ovaries.

Hematology Unit

Complete blood counts are made with fully automatic blood count systems with 22 parameters and peripheral smear preparations are evaluated by a hematology specialist.
PT, aPTT, Fibrinogen, D-Dimer etc. Coagulation tests are also performed with an automatic coagulation device in this unit. Likewise, the sedimentation test is also studied and reported in automated systems.

Microbiology Unit

Direct and stained examinations of infectious bacteria, fungi and parasites, their production in bacterial or fungal cultures and their identification at the species level are carried out. The sensitivity of microorganisms produced from patient samples to antibiotics is determined, and culture and antibiogram results are given within 24-48 hours. Blood cultures are monitored with a growth-controlled automatic device, thus providing quick results.

In addition to conventional methods, automatic kits and computer programs are also used in the microorganism identification process. Bacteria identification and antibiotic susceptibility are studied with an automated system, and the results are reported by studying the MIC values together with the criteria of The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI/NCCLS). With rapid antigen tests, some bacteria (Strep A, H.pylori etc.), some virus antigens (Rotavirus, Adenovirus, RSV, Influenza A-B etc.) and antibodies can be investigated, parasite agents can be detected (Amip-Giardia antigen, stained examination). Parasite examination in stool is studied with formalin-ethylacetate concentration method. In addition, PCR studies of some specific microorganisms (HPV and its typing, HSV 1-2, Syphilis, etc.) are also carried out.

Spermiogram (sperm analysis) test is also being studied in our microbiology unit, and morphology and motility evaluation is performed in line with WHO (World Health Organization) criteria. In addition to morphological evaluation according to Kruger strict criteria with special sperm dye, sperm washing and preparation can be done with swim-up techniques for insemination.

Serology Unit

In this unit, tests for the analysis of proteins (ASO, CRP, RF, immunoglobulins, complement, etc.) in body fluids with fully automatic devices, h
